Before heading to Japan?s Festival/Tokyo in November, Against Again Troupe gave a debut performance of its new work Eventually Withering Away Little by Little last week. The play experiments with the possibilities of a theater without people. The new work, being performed in celebration of the troupe?s 10th anniversary, will also be performed at this year?s Macau City Fringe Festival.
Combining various theatrical art forms, including object theater, installation art, sound art and behavior art, the play forms a theater without actors. The production will be put on by Against Again Theater?s five artists, including Joyce Ho, who won a special award at the KOBE Biennale, theater musician and director Chiang Tao, producer Lin Jen-chung, and artists Kappa Tseng and Wang Shih-chi. The five of them use their own individual performance methods to outline evidence that is supposed to prove the existence of a woman who is never actually present on the stage. The play creates limitless possibilities for its stream-of-consciousness narrative, paying tribute to one of the most important female writers of the 20th century ? Virginia Woolf.
A theater of actors that does not actually use people was the brainchild of Against Again Troupe director, Huang Sze-nung. He says that the absence of others is something that every individual must experience in life, ?Maybe people leave, perhaps they die, or maybe they are there the whole time but just not seen.?

BRIGHTON (Reuters) - Britain will allow parents to use money locked up in pension schemes to help their children obtain mortgages and buy their own home, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said on Sunday.
The scheme, still at the planning stage, aims to give a lift to a sluggish economy with a 125 million pound ($200 million) boost to the housing and construction market.
It comes after Clegg and Prime Minister David Cameron announced 10 billion pounds of government backing for new housing schemes earlier this month.
Parents would be able to use a quarter of the value of their pension savings - normally untouchable until they retire - as security for a cash deposit for their children's mortgage.
Home ownership is popular in Britain but the cost of buying a property has risen beyond the reach of many young people after lenders tightened borrowing terms following the financial crisis.
"We have thousands of young people who are desperate to get their feet on the first rung of the property ladder but deposits have doubled and the number of young people asking help from family members to get a mortgage has doubled," Clegg told BBC television.
"We are going to allow ... parents and grandparents to use their pension pots to act as a guarantee so their children and grandchildren can take out a deposit and buy a home," he said from his Liberal Democrat party conference in Brighton, southern England.
Party aides said they expected around 12,500 Britons might take advantage of the scheme, pledging an average 10,000 pounds from their pensions for mortgage deposits.
However, finance experts were cautious about the proposal. "Any scheme which uses pensions as a guarantee must ensure that it does not inadvertently make the saver worse off when they retire," said Otto Thoresen, director general of the Association of British Insurers.

PEARCY (KTHV) - As we continue to cover a tragic day in Garland County,?Today's THV?hears community reaction from Pearcy where a 7-year-old girl was struck and killed this morning by the bus she takes to school every day.
Everyone is still absorbing the heart-breaking loss of second grader Hannah Martin from Pearcy. It's a small town in Garland County about 16 miles west of Hot Springs and news of her death spread fast.
Life-long Pearcy resident Mina Horne owns the local hair salon. It's a place crawling with the talk of the town, and on Friday, it was tough to swallow.
"They were just in shock, everybody I talked to just couldn't believe that could happen," Horne said.
Horne says, early on, the stories coming into her salon varied about a Lake Hamilton School District student struck and killed by her bus driver.
"Nobody knew at the time who it was, nobody seemed to know any names," Horne said.
But by day's end, authorities revealed 7-year-old Hannah Martin died?in the accident. It took place?at?a bus stop intersection?at Old Dallas Road and Meyers Creek Road around 6:30 Friday morning.?Authorities are?still investigating what went wrong but say dark conditions may be a factor.
"This is a tragic accident that's rocked this community and words can't express the extent of sorrow felt by the school and this community," Superintendent Steve Anderson said.
Lake Hamilton School Superintendent Steve Anderson said it turns out the driver of the bus knew the girl and her family well.
"His granddaughter and she were friends, she was at his house just a couple days ago," Anderson said.
It's making this all even more difficult for this town to absorb.
"I heard he just fell to the ground and just poured out I guess, he was very hurt over it," Horne said.
It was a tough day for both sides involved in this accident but Horne says the town of Pearcy won't let them grieve alone.
"Like if there's a fire or just anything, something like this, everyone just pulls together and just does what they can," Horne said.
We also talked to two neighbors off-camera Friday. One of them told us that he came across the accident on his way to school this morning and authorities were turning people around. And another woman told us that?her last memory of Hannah was last week, seeing her get off the bus and run to her brother for a hug.
As for the bus driver, we're told the district has put him on paid leave. The superintendent added, that in the driver's five years with the district, he never had an accident before.

Ex-champ Sanders dies in robbery
Corrie Sanders, the South African southpaw who knocked out Wladimir Klitschko in one of the great upsets in heavyweight boxing, died after being shot by robbers at a restaurant during a family celebration. The former WBO and WBU champion was 46.
Sanders was shot in the hand and stomach at a family member's 21st birthday party at the restaurant in Brits, in South Africa's North West province, on Saturday night, police said. Police Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said three armed men entered the restaurant with the apparent intention to rob it and shot randomly, hitting Sanders. No other injuries were reported. No arrests had been made but a murder investigation has been opened.
Renowned for his hand speed, the 6-foot-4 Sanders retired in 2008 with a 42-4 record, with 31 knockouts. But he was most remembered for the shocking second-round knockout of Klitschko in Germany in 2003 that earned him the WBO title. It is one of only three losses for the Ukrainian and current WBO champion. Sanders agreed to the fight on short notice and was a 40-1 underdog.

League, players?to meet today
The NHL and NHL Players' Association are set to meet today in Toronto for the first time in nearly two weeks, but a discussion about a new collective bargaining agreement isn't on the agenda.
Instead, the sides will discuss the accounting for last season's hockey-related revenue. It's the first time they've met since Sept. 12, when each side tabled a proposal.
The league enacted a lockout when the CBA expired three days later. The work stoppage has already caused a delay in the start of training camps and prompted the cancellation of September's preseason games.

Terry quits international play
Former England captain John Terry unexpectedly ended his nine-year international career, quitting before he was due to face a racism hearing because his place in the team had become "untenable." Despite being cleared in court of racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League match last year, the Chelsea defender was facing a lengthy ban if found guilty by a Football Association panel this week. Terry, 31, became the first England player to be stripped of the captaincy twice when he was fired in February ahead of the criminal trial. But Terry has no plans to stop playing for Chelsea, where he has spent his entire career.
