My Pillow moving 200 jobs to Shakopee, opening retail stores

My Pillow Inc. founder Mike Lindell is shifting about 200 manufacturing jobs to a building in Shakopee from a Carver facility that the fast-growing company has outgrown.

The company has signed a letter of intent to lease 46,000 square feet in an industrial building at 5555 12th Ave. E., versus 15,000 feet it has in Carver today.

"We just keep growing. It's just amazing," Lindell said.

My Pillow is a manufacturer of pillows founded by Lindell and really took off after a successful TV infomercial.

Its Chanhassen headquarters, call center and customer service center isn't moving. It has about 540 employees and is adding employees weekly.

In addition to direct sales, one of the versions is now sold though Bed, Bath & Beyond; other by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. That launch "has been real successful," Lindell said.

My Pillow is also launching its own stores. It opened a location in Rosedale Center and has seven other retail stores in the works.

Lindell would have stayed in Carver and tried to find a way to expand his current building, but he said there was some resistance from the city of Carver over the hours the factory was open.

There were also issues related to upgrades that Carver had requested for My Pillow's Carver building, like paving the parking lot, according to a story in the Shakopee News community newspaper.
